Bronze Joe McDonagh Foundation medal for Mitchels

Castlebar Mitchels were delighted to receive the news that they were awarded a bronze medal from the Joe McDonagh Foundation, provided by Glór nan Gael and the GAA, for their achievement in promotion of the Irish language.  

The news was well-received by Padraic McKeon, Irish Language & Culture Officer, who said he was thrilled with the award and thanked all of the Gaeltacht na Mistéalaigh group, who have worked hard on this plan.  The group has just published the 2021/2022, ‘Plean Teanga agus Cultúir na Mistéalaigh Caisleán an Bharraigh’.

Tá áthas mór ar Mhistéalaigh Caisleán an Bharraigh go bhfuaireamar duais ó Fhondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha, curtha ar fáil ag Glór na nGael agus CLG, taréis gníomhachtaí an chluib Gaeilge a chur chun cinn.
Dúirt Cathaoirleach Paddy Mahon: 'Taimid an-bhródúil le seo. Buíochas do Ghaeltacht na Mistéalaigh agus do chách a chabhraigh chun an duais gradamach seo a bhuadh.'.


The plan recognises the club’s responsibility in promoting the Irish language and culture and reflects the actions committed to in order to deliver this.
