Joe Mc Donagh Foundation/Fondireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha
December 03, 2020
The Joe Mc Donagh Foundation/Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha was established in 2016. This
scheme, a partnership between the GAA and Glór na nGael, gives clubs the opportunity to use Irish in an
enjoyable and practical way. Its aim is to weave the Irish language into all the GAA’s activities, and so to
awaken a sense of pride in all aspects of the Gaelic culture and language. The Foundation gives direction
and ideas to build on good work that has already been done within the club. Medals are awarded to
clubs for various levels of achievement in promotion of the Irish language and culture.
Is cúis mór áthais dúinn a insint daoibh go bhfuil bonn umha buaite again i mbliana. Castlebar Mitchels
are delighted and proud to have, this year, been awarded a bronze medal by the Joe Mc Donagh
Foundation for their activities in these areas. The medal is a noted sign of achievement and recognition
for the club’s continued work and progress. We will strive now to attain the next level, silver medal
award, for the club. Members who have an interest in the Irish language and cultural activities are
invited to join our group. There is no need to be fluent in Irish, as our activities are conducted bi-
lingually and in a social, relaxed manner. There will be no pressure on anyone to do anything! Just come
and enjoy meeting like-minded people.

Déanfaimid ár ndícheall anois tuilleadh céimeanna chun tosaigh a thabhairt sna blianta amach
romhainn, agus bonn airgid a ghnóthú. Tugaimid cuireadh anois daoibh páirt a ghlacadh san iarracht
seo. Tar isteach agus bainfidh sibh taitneamh as. ‘Ní neart go cur le chéile.’
